The NIHR Diagnostic Evidence Co-operative (DEC) Oxford two day course on diagnostic test development, evaluation and regulation with speakers from MHRA, NOCRI, NICE and Oxford University.

This course is aimed at all professionals working on diagnostic tests including people working in industry, academia, funding and regulation. During these two days we will provide you with the latest information on what evidence is needed to obtain regulatory approval, how NICE evaluates new diagnostic technology and how to collect evidence to support adoption in routine clinical practice. In addition we will teach you about different study designs including quality assessment and where to look for funding opportunities.
The course combines talks with hands-on activities. To stimulate interactive discussions and maximise the learning experience the number of places for this course are limited to 25.

Accommodation
Accommodation for the night of Thursday 1st October is included in the price of the workshop. If you would like to stay on Wednesday 30th September (the night before the workshop) there are very limited numbers of single, en-suite rooms available in Worcester college. These include breakfast and cost £85. If you would like to book, please email dec@phc.ox.ac.uk.

Travel
There is no parking available at Worcester College. The nearest car-park is on Worcester Street, but gets full very quickly and is very expensive. The best option if you are driving is to use the Park and Ride system.
Oxford Railway station is a 10 minute walk from Worcester College. The coach/bus station is situated at Gloucester Green, only 5 minutes away.

Registration costs a flat rate of £595. You can pay either by credit card (preferred method) or choose to be invoiced. If you want to be invoiced, you will be asked for a purchase order number, and will be contacted to provide a copy so that an invoice can be raised. Purchase orders should be raised to 'Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford'. Please note that the total amount shown on the booking screen will be £0, but you will be invoiced the full amount.

- Searching workshop to support regulatory approval and other purposes
Day 2:
- Basic statistics in diagnostic studies: Beth Shinkins, University of Oxford
- Evidence for regulatory purposes: Steve Lee, MHRA
- Evidence for implementation in routine clinical practice - NICE evaluations: Sarah Byron, NICE
- Possibilities of routinely available data: Antonis Kousoulis, MHRA
- Funding for diagnostic test development/opportunities for collaboration with academia: Ravi Chana, NOCRI
Venue
The workshop will be held in the beautiful surroundings of Worcester College, Oxford (which has its own lake, tennis court and extensive gardens) with opportunities to stay in student accommodation within the college. Meals will be served in the dining hall which was designed by James Wyatt and dates back to 1770.
